She has fantastic work. We are actually doing a photo series based on her artwork. With her permission, of course.

Avarice and Envy are the same thing….

    the 7 sins are

    Greed
    Pride
    Sloth
    Gluttony
    Lust
    Wrath
    Avarice

And before anyone suggests that Greed and Gluttony are the same….they are not…

But nice artwork all the same….

    Ooops….my bad….

    Avarice means Greed…..

For years I thought it was Envy….darn books…can’t trust them sometimes….

Sorry, but I didn’t think that Wrath was that well, wrathful. If she was really Wrath, that whip would’ve been uncoiled.

I agree with Tristan. But it needs more than the whip. Whether the whip is uncoiled or not is actually irrelevant. All it needs is for her to be holding it very tensely, to look like she’s about to hit someone, and a more angry look on her face.

The sloth is very good though.

But Envy needs to look more… envious. Pouting, almost, would be good. Because these are meant to be the epitome of the sins, right?

Vanity, Lust, and Gluttony are done well, though.

Very intriguing pieces. I’m not particularly in love with “sloth”, but the rest are damned near dead on. The colors all blend very well with their particular theme. Not to mention the dresses.. dear god they are gorgeous.

    wrath
    avarice
    slothfulness
    pride
    lust
    envy
    gluttony
vanity is definitely not listed there..

7 deadly sins represented by 7 women. how very appropriate.

dunno why you guys are arguing about the depictions, they are very good none-the-less.

    pretty pics.

    they are all vanity, though.

    I generally don’t comment, but…

I am very unmoved by these. The addition of the icon in the surrounding circle is cartoonish at best – and about the only thing in the image that visually ties the depiction to the image. The emotion of the sins is absent in the faces of every one. Sorry to crash the party, but these do not convey the message of the 7 sins.

The 7 deadly sins are greed, sloth, wrath, envy, gluttony, lust and vanity. Hasn’t anyone seen Se7en???
I’ve never even heard of Averice before…
They are all pretty to look at but insofar as a flawed representation of what they stand for – it doesn’t work. Or else you wouldn’t need the sin title underneath each picture. It should be obvious.

OK, look, saying that avarice and vanity are not sins is a bit misleading. They are synonyms for envy and pride, respectively. read a thesaurus every now and again.

OK. Listen. I’m tired of reading these and feeling like I want to kill myself.

    Avarice = Greed.

    Pride = Vanity.

    Now stop it.

As nice as the talent is…(common,) the underlying issue is that women are the deadly sins? Tired! When you have an original thought that would be a nice exercise of genius that your maybe capable of. Good luck.

Wow, these images are fantastic and the theme wonderful, despite what others might suggest.

I hate to break it to you, but the 7 deadly sins are not based on Se7en. They are from the Bible. Look avarice up in the dictionary, and it is basically the same thing as greed. So, there you have it.

And for those who are wondering where vanity comes in, if you look vanity up in a thesaurus, pride is one of it’s synonyms.

I think the images are very good. =)

If only there were more than just 7 deadly sins…31 deadly sins..yummy

  25. Posted December 31, 2007 at 7:34 am | Permalink

LOL I bet those that shout the loudest about the pictures not depicting the sins and being rubbish, are those of us that cannot draw a curtain let alone a decent picture. This person CAN draw whether you like the subject or not, or the style or not. Art is subjective, look it up… The dresses, as someone else has said, are lovely. For all those that insist on explaining to the next poster what the sins are, etc…. yes we can read and it was explained right up the top, thanks. Well done Gumball, nice work! Lets see pictures of men next huh? ;)

Wonderful job! Drools. All of them really convey all that sh*t. Except wrath. looks more like indecision. Lust, envy, and vanity are all very shaggable. In a good way.

The illustration for sloth does not seem to capture the full meaning of sloth. The illustrations are very good though.

I love them all, very pretty artwork. Despite how ppl are being crazy about the descriptions, its a great job well done. I love vanity a lot, she’s very pretty and depicts pride really well.

i really enjoy these pics. I am doing an assignment that requires me to find advertisements on the 7 sin and virtual. this pictures help a lot and i think the artist did a wonderful job in displaying the emotion of each sin. However, Sloth look a little to clean and not enough laziness to her. Great job

all 7 deadly sins are there if you go to the original site of digitalart i believe the person who made these describe envy as wanting to be like someone else and avarice as the want for money or what we normally associate with greed and with the other sins there all present. what i hate about most the people who are flaming these pictures is that i bet none of them can even draw/paint better then this
