United Arab Emirates is now trying these days to create Venice in Dubai by building an artificial canal. Aside from the staggering US$11bn tag price on the Arabian Canal, its developers promise it will be the largest and most complex work of engineering in the Middle East since the construction of the Suez Canal in Egypt in 1859.

This would make a wicked level for a boat race in a FPS… sort of like the buggy ride in half-life.
God bless them and best of luck to them. That looks amazing! Doesn’t look too practical though.
THEY SHOULD BUILD HOSPITALS AND SCHOOLS WITH THAT MONEY

Dubai Hotels provides the vacation and business travelers going to Dubai, access to the best rates and availability for Dubai hotels, car rental, and other travel-related services directly through real-time booking.
this is just the tip of the iceberg
they have an indoor ski hill
individually rotating apartments
giant man made island resorts
and some very creative and inspiring engineering
I can only assume that PCH has never been to Dubai. With some of the best Hospitals in the world, at the newly constructed Health Care City, free healthcare provided at a basic level to all immigrants (if you need something serious done then you gotta pay, but all companies are required to provide health insurance), Yearly reviews of the school system and some of the highest paid teachers in the world, who can blame them if they like to splash out on an $11Bn dollar canal!
The pictures above by the way are mostly of the Madinat Resort. The Arabian Canal is an entirely different project.
