    Don’t know where the avalanche story came from, but this looks like a pretty routine check-up on a mother and cubs. I recognize the uniforms of the Maine Fish & Wildlife wardens, and there’s a link on one of the pictures. They do a bunch of these all winter long, finding dens, then checking the bears’ health.

    Anthony is correct. Although these men are biologist not wardens for the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Some men are from the local snow mobile club who assist every winter with the bear cub survey. These same pictures appear on the local NBC station every spring.
