Coober Pedy – The Underground Town

Coober Pedy is a place where people like to live underground.

Coober Pedy is a small Australian town, famous for being the opal capital of the world because of the large quantity of opal stones that are mined here. What people don’t know about this place is that the locals mostly like to live underground. A tradition that goes back to the early 1900, when the first miners arrived in the area, cave-boring in the hillsides is still popular. The temperatures here during the Summer are unbearable for some, so they opt for underground living quarters, at approximately the same price as a surface-built house. The first one keeps a constant, cool temperature during the Summer while the second needs air-conditioning. It can get quite cold during the winter, though.

One of the most popular attractions in Coober Pedy are the underground churches.

Coco, that was pretty bad, the name is up there four times.

Have you guys seen the cement blocks with fiber optic cables embedded in them, allows light to go through, but would probably keep the insulation better than a sky light. It would probably be pretty easy to put a few of those in.

This would appear to be a near-perfect place to build his sort of house. Very little rainfall, so leaks are a minimal problem. Geologically stable, so minimal worry about earthquakes. Exceedingly hot at the surface… I’d live in an underground house there!

Fuk underground churches. My church is from the morning till the next morning, in all directions.
I love what I see. This is f amazing. I s’pose ventilaton is a problem, but it must have been solved.
Hey, Lord, the official “poster”, do you really have TV there? Any access to e.g. satellite internet and TV? The Au goverment, as much as they are retarded, are supposed to support remote areas and give incentives for communication with the so f called civilization. If you do not live at King’s Cross in Sydoniaville, you are f remote, mate. Any chance of spending some quality time in such a beau-f-full cave, mate? In other words, do people rent these places to f Americans, f Australians and other f-ups?
    Thanks for your time.

P.S. Hey, Mia, you can use your ears, which pick up echos: you can use your memory, if u have any, to reach any spot in that cave; you can use solar-panels on the ground as a source of electricity. F thinking becomes popular even among retards, hey!

If its deep enough underground, the house would stay at a fairly even temp and need minimal heating, even in winter.
