Do you think this world will ever be able to become completely cigarette free in the distant future? I would like to think that the younger generation, who are wiser, will know better than to get into this bad habit. Perhaps, it is possible.

Couldn’t agree with you more Stolczi. Allright, it might be proven that it shortens my life, but it’s stil MYYYYY life!!!!!!!!!!
I am well aware of the risks, the government doesn’t need to point that out every freaking day.
Even more people die each year by the use of alcohol (drunk driving, liver troubles, OD, …), I don’t see anyone lobbying to outlaw alcohol.
And by the way, everyone who knows a little bit about psychology knows that a drug-free community is an UTOPIA, it will never exist! Okay, nicotine kills, but there are more evil alternatives imaginable…
Here in Belgium the government is also spending millions a year on anti-smoking campaigns. They should beter spend all that money on help for the people who WANT to stop. Because it IS addictive, an i’m well aware of that fact, but right now I don’t see a reason to stop.
Several reasons why to spend money on this:
1.- When you smoke around other you damage others, even if they stay around you because they love/need you… Not possible to allow… pretty clear to me.
2.- You will be having health problems. Maybe just more often, maybe more serious… if you want to suffer them, cool, but you will probably go to the public health system to spend the money of everybody (even the non smokers) in order to get better of a problem you caused to yourself.
3.- Alcohol is several times less addictive and the problem normally refers to “drink and drive” problems, and since that behavior it’s punished by law, I don’t see the problem there. Also the other negative choices are forbidden. In fact, this it’s the only drug yu can use almost everywhere!
4.- This campaigns probably will not make quit, but they have high success rate in preventing others to smoke and they inform people about consequences… Freedom and information it’s supposed to be more important than make you addiction more pleasant.
There are other reasons too, but as you may see, it’s not all about you… it’s about US, because, for good and bad, we live together in the same society. So get used to this, or even better, try to quit!

lets make it straight. i respect other peoples health and comfrt, i never smoke in public places when theres no seperate place for smokers. if a non smoker decides to stay in a smoking area its his choice.
public health service. why dont we say the same thing bout people who are obese. they are more likely to have diabetes so they spend more of public money. same thing should be applied to people who sunbarh a lot coz of the skin cancer, people who do a lot of sports coz of high risk of injuries and i do belive all the drivers may cause potentialy a lot of accidents. its just not right way of thinkng.
one thing is to make people aware of the risk theyre facing. the other is taking some libery from us. on every pack of cigarettes u may find a note telling you it is bad for you. we smokers are fully aware of that. you really dont need to educate us more on that.

well who really cares because if you smoke others around you can die.dont only think about yourself think about others to.theres over 1,000 people who die over a year because of that so please stop smoking and if you do than thank you because you saved alot of people.
