The Kamchatka Peninsula is located in the Russian far east and is known for being flanked by a volcanic ring that contain 160 volcanoes – 29 of which are active. The highest volcano is Klyuchevskaya Sopka stands nearly 16,000 and is also the largest active volcano in the Northern Hemisphere. The most visually impressive is Kronotsky due to it’s nearly perfect cone and has been called the most beautiful volcano in the world.
