Hunter Stockton Thompson (July 18, 1937 – February 20, 2005) was an American journalist and author, most known for his novel ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’. He is suppposed to be the founder of Gonzo-style journalism, where reporters involve themselves in the story such that they become the central figures of the action. He is also known for his use of psychedelics, alcohol, other mind-altering substances, firearms, and his iconoclastic contempt for authority.
