For you video game freaks out there that wish they could work at Blizzard Entertainment – home of World of Warcraft – well here is your chance to experience it almost first hand. They have some cool offices – no chance of getting laid, but you get bobbleheads!
The dot com boom might have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean that industry still doesn’t have some serious money. Privately held Facebook and newcomer Twitter both seem like some fun places to park your ass at a desk. These places beat my 8 by 8 grey cube and uncomfortable chair.
Most people hate going to work because they work in a box smaller than a jail cell next to a bunch of people they can’t stand, but what if you could make work more like home? I think this is a nice idea and it creates a home away from home type feel. I bet this will even make you more productive while at work. You get some privacy, you can entertain, you can get more quite time to focus, and best of all you can take a nap.
We all know that Google has som cool office to work in, but we don’t usually see other tech companies enough. YouTube in San Bruno, California makes a nice little run for a great place to work based on these images. No I know you are thinking that most people aren’t technical enough to get a job at this place, but remember every company has room for idiots. Look around your office right now and you know you will be able to point out at least five people that you are amazed can actually hold a job. To be honest you are probably surprised they don’t get lost getting to work everyday – so there is hope people!
I have spent most of my working life working in high rise building in the heart of New York City. I spent about 2 weeks working in Westchester County – about 25 miles north of the city where I live – and I hated every moment. Something about the excitement and action in the city makes it a great place to work. That is whay I don’t know how these people handle working in a long glass tube in he woods. From what I can find out this is the property of a Spanish design compnay of some sort. I don’t even see and ventilation in this place or a bathroom — god forbid someone has some chili.
When you had a stock trading at over $700 a share I guess you can throw some money around on making your office space fun and enjoyable for your employees. The Google Zurich office seems like a nice place to hang your hat for a few hours a day. I thought getting a no window office was cool, but after seeing this I feel like I got robbed.
There are days when you reach beyond what you can bear and snap at work. Instead of saying something completely mundane and unimpactful, here are a few good suggestions of what you can say under those circumstances. If you are gonna crack, might as well make it a good one right?
1. I can see your point, but I still think you’re full of shit.
2. I don’t know what your problem is, but I’ll bet it’s hard to pronounce.
3. How about never? Is never good for you?
4. I see you’ve set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public.
5. I’m really easy to get along with once you people learn to see it my way.
6. I’ll try being nicer if you’ll try being smarter.
7. I’m out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message.
8. I don’t work here. I’m a consultant.
9. It sounds like English, but I can’t understand a damn word you’re saying.
10. Ahhhh .. I see the screw-up fairy has visited us again.
